Join us for this interactive session about investing for beginners!
Investing isn’t merely for the wealthy, but there are barriers to getting started.
I decided to run this informal learning session after confirming my hunch that relatively few of us invest (aside from our pensions). Yet, with interest rates at all time lows and inflation devaluing our money, investing is a key way to build wealth over the long term.
This session is aimed at people in the UK that aren’t yet investing, but either want to, or are curious about doing so. You may lack confidence or not know where to start.
At the event you will:
– Reflect on your current attitude and aspirations towards investing
– Understand the basics to get started on your investing journey – including what is is, and how to actually do it
– Explore some myths about investing
– Explore key concepts such as compounding and your personal risk appetite
At the end you will feel more confident and equipped to take the next step towards investing.
Feedback from an attendee at the first event: “I think it’s actually been life-changing for me, especially as someone who didn’t grow up with much financial education or people to learn from.”
NB – I am not a financial advisor! I am someone who has been investing and learning for a number of years and want to make investing more inclusive and less daunting so that more of us can be financially secure. I will not advise on what to invest, however I will point you to sources of guidance.
I am a freelance sustainability consultant, everyday investor, and an advocate for equality and social justice. I’ve come to learn how issues like wealth inequality, racism and the climate crisis are deeply interrelated. I believe that helping women to be financially independent and secure is a big part of addressing them, and will unleash many more amazing things into the world.
