Her personal essays/life writing has appeared in Refinery29, The iPaper, The Guardian, metro.co.uk and the Independent. Nicola is also the founder of The Single Supplement, which is an award-winning and popular weekly newsletter exploring the highs and lows of being single. As part of this, she runs a community of single people and regularly provides comment to the press about issues affecting the community.
